American Heart Association, Heart On The Hill. The State Capitol, Tallahassee, Florida . I will be joining Orange County delegates to meet with our legislators on the Association’s advocacy priority issues, specifically to address the Florida Stroke Act (Senate Bill 1590, House Bill 889). The Florida Stroke Act will help ensure that our EMS systems and stroke treatment hospitals across Florida are capable of providing timely and effective treatment for stroke victims. Senator Mike Fasano(New Port Richey) and Representative Gus Bilirakis (Palm Harbor) are sponsoring the Florida Stroke Act.
In working to fulfill its mission to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases, the American Heart Association encourages federal, state and local legislators to support public policies that advance the fight against heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. Completed the Disney Half Marathon in less than 4 hours and was awarded for being the top fundraiser in the country for The American Stroke Association raising $11,500 in donations. Valerie at the FinishTrain To End Stroke is a marathon-training event sponsored by The American Heart and Stroke Association, that raises money to fund life-saving stroke research and education. Locally, we have already raised over $150,000 for stroke research and education.
